講義概要/Course description
This lecture class is on the topic of first and second language acquisition, and the relationship between them. We are concerned basically with theories of first and second language acquisition and development, and we interpret data showing language development in the light of these theories. Various cognitive psychological terms and concepts will be introduced, such as implicit versus explicit learning and memory, priming, restructuring, triggering, fossilization, interlanguage, and many others relevant to first (L1) and second (L2) acquisition theory. 
 This class will be given as self-directed learning using CoursePower. The content of textbooks will be covered, and supplementary readings will be made available on CoursePower. In the first semester the course will focus on first language acquisition. The required textbook for the first semester is Child Language, by Jean Stilwell Peccei (1999) Routledge.

授業方法/Method of instruction
The course will be available as self-directed learning using CoursePower.  Students will be expected to buy,  and read, chapters in the textbooks, and read supplementary readings made available on CoursePower. Many self-study exercises will be given, and weekly reports will be assigned on CoursePower.
成績評価方法/Evaluation
1 レポート Report 90% Completion of weekly reports on CoursePower.
2 その他 Others 10% Regular completion of assignments at the required due dates is important.
